The Case of Carlton Comet
Co-Dominance |
Ink Chromatography |
Co dominance, as it relates to genetics, refers to a type of inheritance in which two versions (alleles) of the same gene are expressed separately to yield different traits in an individual. (genome.gov)
|
Chromatography is a method for analyzing mixtures by separating them into the chemicals from which they are made. It can be used to separate mixtures like ink, blood, gasoline, and lipstick. In ink chromatography, you are separating the colored pigments that make up the color of the pen. (msichicago.org)

Pedigrees |
Karyotypes |
A pedigree shows relationships between family members and indicates which individuals have certain genetic pathogenic variants, traits, and diseases within a family as well as vital status. A pedigree can be used to determine disease inheritance patterns within a family. (cancer.gov)
|
A karyotype is an individual’s complete set of chromosomes. The term also refers to a laboratory-produced image of a person’s chromosomes isolated from an individual cell and arranged in numerical order. A karyotype may be used to look for abnormalities in chromosome number or structure. (genome.gov)

Gel Electrophoresis |
Punnet Squares |
Gel electrophoresis is a technique used to separate DNA fragments (or other macromolecules, such as RNA and proteins) based on their size and charge. Electrophoresis involves running a current through a gel containing the molecules of interest. Based on their size and charge, the molecules will travel through the gel in different directions or at different speeds, allowing them to be separated from one another. (khanacademy.com)

The Punnett square is a table in which all of the possible outcomes for a genetic cross between two individuals with known genotypes are given. (sciencedirect.com)

Strengths I would feel confident saying our teams biggest strength was communication efficiency. We were able to tackle tasks quickly yet to perfection.
|
Challenges A challenge for our group was being behind as most of our group was gone for the project, in the end we pick up the pieces and got back on track, no issues.
